There are many recent examples where both people and infrastructure have been placed at increased risk because rescuers can't reach them using conventional rescue vehicles.
In addition to search and rescue, the vehicle currently under research will be of interest to other organisations working in difficult terrain or extreme environments e.g. emergency services, humanitarian relief, coast guard, exploration or survey, forestry, land management, environment agencies, utlities companies etc.,.
If you are involved in procurement or fleet management of vehicles for use in extreme conditions, we would like to hear about your vehicle requirements. As part of our Innovate UK award. we are currently building a community of interested user organisations to help inform the needs and capabilities of a prototype all-terrain amphibious rescue vehicle and ensure it meets end-user requirements. If your organisation would like to be part of the user reference group for this project, please contact us for further details.
Swift aid to disaster victims is essential. People left stranded by flood, snow, earthquake, hurricane or other natural disaster need urgent help. Infrastructure lost through inaccessibility can take years to restore.
