Our proof-of-concept prototype, seen here, operates using a diesel over hydraulic power-train. Production vehicles will instead be configured as Range Extended Electric Vehicles (REEVs) where an engine generates electrical power for traction (and export)! There are now some excellent low-carbon and fuel-efficient opportunities coming from micro-turbine based REEVs where state-of-the-art micro-turbines offer significantly extended servicing intervals and are now being combined with advanced control and battery solutions. Such power-trains - offering long-term reliability and comparatively clean power generation - are being explored.
